Saturday was supposed to be a beautiful day so we decided to take a drive west to see the beautiful colors of trees putting on their fall uniforms. What we ended up with was a drive through a steady mist looking at leaves that were more dead than colorful. We did find a pumpkin patch where Elliott and Ian had a great time.
This miniature straw maze ended up being Elliott's favorite part of the day. He ran through it a couple of dozen times until he was completely exhausted. I am looking into building one in our back yard.
We found a combine that we could climb up in. Ian demanded to drive. I complied.
Elliott discovered a secret escape out the back of the combine.
Ian demanded to use the same escape route. Katie complied.
Elliott stands guard over the pumpkin he picked out.
Sometimes, two guards are better than one.
Mama gives the guard a break.
After returning from the pumpkin patch, it was time for the traditional painting of the pumpkin. Elliott insisted on Blue and Gold - Go Irish!
Later in the evening, we went to a fall festival at church. Ian went as Roo, Katie went as a kangaroo trainer, which closely resembles a mama.
Elliott went as Jimmy Clausen (Notre Dame quarterback). I told him hanging out at a fall festival was going to hurt his chances of winning the Heisman Trophy when he should be playing a game in San Antonio. He didn't get my humor.
