Thank You Grandma And Grandpa

This past Saturday was my birthday.  What a wonderful surprise it was to find out that morning that the boys would be spending the night with Grandma and Grandpa.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big fan of the boys being out of our house, but I sure don't object to them spending an occasional 24 hours or so in grandma and grandpa's house.  I'm sure many of you understand.

As thankful as I am to have had some quiet time to go see a movie and get dinner with Katie, I'm equally grateful that the boys spending time with their grandparents always results in some cool stories and memories.

Ian caught and ate his first bass.  Even Elliott was brave enough to put his tongue on his catch, but quickly determined fish was another meat that wasn't coming near his diet.  The boys brought home potatoes and beets to plant, and a salamander to put in a tank in their room.  Note to self: check to make sure the salamander got put in the tank.

I spent a lot of time last weekend thinking about the year ahead and my journey to 50, but I couldn't be more grateful for the present.
