The Cartwright Family Does The Harlem Shake

In my reading this morning I came across an article about a cultural movement that has taken Youtube by storm.  (When exactly was the last time a cultural movement happened without the benefit of Youtube?)  But I was reading about this dance craze – the Harlem Shake.  I had seen a few videos of the dance posted on Facebook but I had never watched one.  I assumed it was another one of those signs of the times that would only end up being a bigger sign of my old age if I dared to watch it.  When I read this morning, though, that over 100,000 videos of this dance had been uploaded to Youtube, I was curious.  So I spent about a half hour pouring through several dozen of them. I was captivated.

It just so happens it’s a cold,rainy day here in central Virginia.  We were stuck inside, anyways, so I suggested to my family that we not be left in the dust of this dance craze known as the Harlem Shake.  I mean we can shake, can’t we.  And I once met someone from Harlem.  So we are qualified to join the movement.  So we did.
